Yes.
Depending on the software, it may be a box labeled "Use Folder Names" or
"Preserve Directory Structure" that you want to check.
This should be an option after you choose EXTRACT.

As Richard suggeted, I tried going to the website and downloaded the zip
file. However I can't seem to get Winzip to extract the files and preserve

directions for a non-Internet update (both the executable and the ado
files) contained at
http://www.stata.com/support/updates/stata8.html
Hopefully, once you have done that, all will be well in the future, but if
not you can continue to update this way.
