Thanks to Kit Baum, two new packages have been uploaded
to the SSC Archive: -relrank- and -invcdf-.
-relrank- generates the so called (quasi-) relative
data of a variable compared to an empirical reference
distribution. This is also called the grade
transformation.
-invcdf- applies the inverse empirical cumulative
distribution function (the quantile function) of a
reference variable to the values of another variable.
(Technically, -invcdf- is just the reverse of
-relrank-.)
The two programs may be helpful, for example, in the
analysis of income inequality and wage differentials.
