One other alternative for measuring trend in ordered categorical data (or 
other ordinal data) is the -somersd- package, downloadable from SSC, which 
computes confidence intervals for Somers' D or Kendall's tau-a. To in stall 
inside Web-aware Stata, type

ssc inst somersd
