Oh dear. It looks like your problem is local. On my P2 laptop (Windows
2000, 128mb of RAM), -tab- runs in no time:
. webuse union
(NLS Women 14-24 in 1968)
. tab black union, exact
| 1 if union
race black | 0 1 | Total
-----------+----------------------+----------
0 | 15,260 3,747 | 19,007
1 | 5,129 2,064 | 7,193
-----------+----------------------+----------
Total | 20,389 5,811 | 26,200
Fisher's exact = 0.000
1-sided Fisher's exact = 0.000
A question for technical support, perhaps?
