Sarah,
Maybe you want to try the joinby command . It saves you from having to sort out datasets every time you need to merge them. Make sure you specify the unmatched option so that you do not lose observations that are not common to both data sets

Hi,
I am trying to match 2 panel data sets, but I want to use more than 1
variables as matching ctireria. i.e. I want to do something like that
merge name lastname year using x
However STATA 8 does not seem to be able to use more than 1 criteria. I will
be very happy if you can help me!
Best,
Sarah
