A couple things. There is a version of SPSS (v.11) that works on OS X, and, regarding Stata on OS X, when appropriately updated, the help file for ODBC should read:

odbc allows Stata to load, write, or view data from ODBC sources. ODBC,
an acronym for Open DataBase Connectivity, is a standardized set of
function calls that can be used to access data stored in both relational
and nonrelational database management systems. Currently, Stata's odbc
command is only available for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux.
