Michael,
"Bubble plots" are just weighted scatter plots with hollow_circle as the
symbol. A meaningless example is:
sysuse auto
twoway (scatter displacement mpg [weight=price], ///
msymbol(circle_hollow) ///
msize(vlarge)) ///
, caption(area of circle is proportional to price)
