st: How do I copy Stata 8 graphs into Openoffice Writer (running linux version)?

How do I copy Stata 8 graphs into Openoffice Writer (running linux version)? 
As now I have always to save as png and then importing the graph in the 
document; i search for a simpler copy-paste system... Is it possible??
