I wonder if your setup got damaged somehow? Try -which merge- to see if
anything is there. When I do this, I get
. which merge
C:\Stata8\ado\updates\m\merge.ado
*! version 2.0.1 02jan2004
I would also try -update all- to make sure everything really is up to date.
