st: possible to create a graph with only text in it?

Hi all,
Maybe I'm missing something obvious, but is there some way to create a 
graph that is completely blank, except that it includes text?

Or, to get at what I really want to do, is there a way to place text into 
the blank spaces created by -graph combine-, with the holes() options?
