I checked the code for venndiag(v 2.13) in my computer, that I just
downloaded from SSC today. There is no -clear- but drop_all in line
1144. It means it has been changed. But the option "circle" and
"ellipse" of this new version still don't work.

I use 8.2 and last week was having the same problems with the graph not
drawing. I received the following information from Derek Wagner at Stata
Tech Support, which solved the problem:
Apparently, the code for -venndiag- hasn't been updated by the author
for Stata 8. The problem has to do with the appearance of -clear-
commands between the graphs. If you want, you can make the following
changes to your venndiag.ado file in order to make it run in Stata 8:
change line 1144 (the ninth-to-last line) from -clear- to -drop _all-
