For what its worth, something similar exist for GAUSS. Stefan Steinhaus,
with input from other users, tracks the results for a benchmark program on
various (OS, hardware, and GAUSS version) combinations. The benchmark

Buzz Burhans and I hope the comparative timings for XP Pro and Linux were
helpful to others.
I wonder if it might be possible for Stata Corp to make available a few
-standard- test files and do files that might be used for timing purposes
by Stata users. The issue of comparative speed comes up often as computer
systems change and Stata users try to figure out the various advantages and
disadvantages of different hardware and OS.
