Unfortunately I have not Stata 8 manuals, I'm using Stata 7. I need to understand which test is used from the procedure STIR...

Do you have the Stata 8 Survival Analysis manual? It has slightly over 2 pages on the stir command (pp. 169-171) - probably not much more than the online help. The one reference given is Dupont, W.D. 2003. Statistical Modeling for Biomedical Researchers. Cambridge University Press.
