In an earlier posting I mentioned a problem I was having executing the areg
command. Following Scott Merryman's advice I ran a trace and found the
problem to be a call to -predict- which is in version 8.2. As Kit Baum and
Mark Schaffer correctly suggested the cause was an incompatibility between
my ado and executable files; I had updated the ado files but not the
executable. I have now updated everything and areg seems to be working
fine. Thanks to everyone for their help.
BTW it seems that upgrading to version 8.2 solved another problem I was
having. In version 8.0 Stata took a long time to start up and to exit when
I was operating my PC remotely using PCAnywhere. With version 8.2 it opens
and closes just as quickly with PCAnywhere as when I am sitting at the host
computer with Stata on it.
