This problem (or a very similar one) was discussed on the list a couple
of weeks ago. I believe it came down to the notion that the update of
the Stata executable and ado-files was not synchronized. I created the
problem inadvertently myself by updating the ado-files on our server
(which can be done while Stata is running) but waiting for a lengthy
job to complete before updating the executable. In the interim, many
things broke, and they all related to predict.
Make sure that the update query says that nothing needs be done.
