Thomas Gschwend mentioned that my prior response might not have adequately
tested Stata's do-file editor in a manner that would have replicated his
methods, and I agree.
I had written a two-line do-file header and pasted in a three-line forvalues
loop after the header.
When I copied an arbitrarily large file (I chose mfp.ado, 28+ kilobytes) into
the do-file editor after a three-line header, I "see" the top of the file
immediately after pasting, as Thomas does for his trials; however, the cursor
is still located at the end of the pasted text, and a simple single press of
the down-arrow key will bring into view the end of the pasted text--I didn't
need to scroll. This is still unsettling, nevertheless, and I would recommend,
along with Thomas, that Stata Corp look into this.
I use Windows XP, English.
