The lastest version of -desmat- via SSC should work properly under
Stata8. Versions from other sources will produce an error if -desmat-
is used as a command syntax, due to a bug in -desrep-. Note that
version 3.13 of -desrep- which was posted in February will work under
Stata8 but produces incorrect confidence intervals for regression
models. The latest version 3.14 of -desrep- of Sept 25 corrects this.
The problems with -xtgee- reported by Joseph Coveney are a result of
different Stata procedures producing different estimate scalars.
-e(deviance)- is usually accompanied by -e(df)- but for -xtgee- using
the -i(pid)- option that apparently should be -e(df_m)-. It's hard
to avoid problems like this cropping up from time to time and using
the -desrep(nomodinfo)- option is indeed the best solution.
