The freeware data entry program EpiData has now been updated to v3. EpiData
works in any windows flavour and is a compact programme (1.1Mb). No
registry keys or similar are used. EpiData focuses on documentation of data
including enhanced rules for validation during data entry.
The shift to version 3 is due to starting a development of features needed
when doing so-called "audit trail" or transaction logging required by data
regulatory bodies in many countries, when handling health related person data.
With the first builds the following new features of interest to Stata users
has been implemented:
a. Import and export to Stata v8, including handling missing values (.a,
.b, .c), variable and value labels.
b. Addition of encrypted fields, which upon export are decrypted.
c. Addition of tools for creating zip files which can also be encrypted.
Encryption applies strong encryption with the AES/Rijndael algoritm.
