predict after bysort varlist: regress

Dear Statalist,

Can I use predict after by varlist: regress?

I estimated linear regression using data from file X:

bysort pensiontype: regress pension age gender region_dummy

Then I wanted to predict pension in another file Z, but predict did not
work.
