Many thanks Scott and Jisheng, Outsheet/Insheet has worked.
Adam
And, if you want to transfer variable labels, value labels and formats
across from Stata 8 to Stata 6 too, then you might like to use my
-descsave- package, downloadable from SSC, which is an extended version of
-describe- and writes a Stata program to reconstruct these variable
attriutes. In Stata, type -ssc desc descsave- to find out more.
Best wishes
Roger

How about -outsheet- in Stata 8 followed by -insheet- in Stata 6.
