Job Title: Associate Research Scientist
Location: Berkeley, CA

Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Will collaborate with Senior Research Scientist on analysis of data
related to alcohol measurement methodology and the relation of lifetime
drinking trajectories to chronic disease, (i.e., coronary heart disease,
breast cancer) and alcohol abuse/dependence disorders. Additional
analyses will pertain to associations between alcohol and drug use and
intentional and accidental injuries, as they relate to transmission of
hepatitis C virus in an STD clinic population. Will collaborate in the
writing and publication of papers in referred journals.
Qualifications/Requirements:
The successful candidate will have a Ph.D., MS, or related degree in a
social science with demonstrated research experience in a relevant
health-related area. Strong data management and analytic skills required,
including demonstrated experience with structural equations modeling and
other multivariate techniques. Experience with analysis of developmental
trajectories (e.g., latent growth modeling), multilevel modeling, and
modern methods of handling missing data helpful. Must be conversant with
SPSS, EQS, and similar statistical packages. Excellent written and oral
communication skills are required. Expected to work as a team member as
well as work independently.
Salary Range: $50,000 - $65,000/year (commensurate with education and
experience)
Position is full time with benefits; will consider part-time.
(current funding available for 4 years with possibility for
extension)
