The version 8 -merge- offer a number of important improvements. Among
these are the series of -unique- options. If violated, they cause the merge
step to fail. Sometimes, however, it may be desirable to continue the
merge even if -unique- fails. Jeroen Weesie's older -mmerge- handled this
problem by issuing a warning, but allowing the merge to continue. This can
be very useful. I'd like to suggest that Stata consider adding a -warn-
option to merge.
