One limitation of -set memory, permanently- is that it does not
change all relevant registry values. Stata does not use the memory
assigned with the -set- command when a data file is opened by
double-clicking in Windows. To change the default memory it is
necessary to edit the "open" command for "Stata Dataset" in the
Windows Explorer (Tools - Folder Options - File Types) and replace
/m1 with /m20, for example. This applies to Stata 7 and Stata 8.
