Why not just have a dynamic rotation facility? Mathematica has had one for years. You can also hardcode the ViewPoint into a graph command.

I too assume that when 3d graphics are mentioned the notion is to be able to do things like bivariate kernel density plots, loglikelihood surface plots, contour plots, probability density plots, etc. that are requisite for a great deal of econometric analysis.
