Stephen Jenkins started a thread on Tuesday
about summarising multiple tabulations in one table.
While various people agreed in not knowing
a way to tackle his problem using commands in official
Stata, Lee Sieswerda suggested using the -tabm-
user-written program together with -foreach-.
He also pointed out that -tabm- was not -by-able,
that is, you could not do things like
. bysort cohort: tabm agekst*, trans col
-tabm- is part of the -tab_chi- package
on SSC, which includes some programs
for tabulation and chi-square tasks.
Until just now, it was a bundle of
programs written for Stata 6.
(A rather dustier version of the
same package also exists on
http://www.stata.com/users/njc)
Thanks to Lee, and to Kit Baum,
this package has now been updated
so that
1. -tabm- is now -by-able.
2. Syntax and help file have
been upgraded to version 7.
The updated package may be installed by
. ssc inst tab_chi
or replaced by
. ssc inst tab_chi, replace
