Thanks to Nick Cox and Chris Wallace (The responses I have so far). It
appears that all but one of the things I am seeking are easily done in
Stata. As a person who has used other programs for graphics, and as one
who has invested mightily in learning different statistical and graphics
packages only to learn in the end that they could not do the thing I
needed them to do, this sounds like a godsend and an extremely worthwhile
investment, which I will now begin to make! Thanks a bunch for your quick
and helpful comments. I hope I did not try anyone's patience and that the
questions and responses prove helpful to others.
